Vietnam now uses the Apostille — embassy legalization is no longer required
As of September 11, 2026, Vietnam is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. U.S. documents for use in Vietnam now need a single apostille instead of the old multi-step embassy / consulate legalization — which means faster turnaround and lower cost.
- California documents are apostilled by the California Secretary of State.
- Federal documents (FBI background checks and other federal records) are apostilled by the U.S. Department of State.
- No Vietnamese consulate step is required anymore.
Orange County Apostille handles the full apostille for your Vietnam-bound documents — birth, marriage & death certificates, FBI checks, powers of attorney, corporate papers, diplomas, and more. Need a certified Vietnamese translation too? We can add that.
