If your destination is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, you get an apostille and you are done.
If it is not, the document is authenticated and then must be legalized by that country’s embassy or consulate in the United States. That is a second stage, with fees and timelines set by the mission rather than by us. The United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, and Vietnam are the destinations our clients hit this with most often.
