Common questions about apostilles

What is an apostille?
An apostille is a certificate that authenticates a public document so it is accepted in another country that belongs to the Hague Apostille Convention. For countries that are not members of the Convention, documents instead need embassy or consulate legalization, which we also handle in full.
What documents can you apostille?
We authenticate vital records (birth, marriage, death and divorce certificates), FBI background checks and other federal documents, powers of attorney, corporate and business filings, diplomas and transcripts, single status affidavits, and many other document types. You can add as many documents as you need in one order.
How long does an apostille take?
California apostilles are often available same-day or on an expedited basis. Federal documents are authenticated by the U.S. Department of State and take longer, and out-of-state documents follow the issuing state's timeline. The exact turnaround depends on the document and the destination country.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the document type, the issuing authority and any add-ons such as notarization or translation. The booking form calculates your exact total as you build your order. In-person and mobile appointments are reserved with a small deposit; mail-in and upload orders are paid in full.
How do I submit my documents?
Four ways: in person at one of our Southern California offices, by mail to our Irvine office, with a mobile notary who travels to you, or by uploading digital and copy-certifiable documents online. Vital records, court records and most federal documents must be submitted as originals.
Do you handle countries that are not in the Hague Convention?
Yes. For destinations that are not members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we handle the full embassy or consulate legalization chain, including U.S. Department of State authentication and the destination country's consulate legalization.
Where are your offices?
We have offices in Orange, Irvine, San Juan Capistrano, and Los Angeles (Century City), and we serve all of Southern California. Mobile notary service is available throughout the region.
