How to Pay MOFA Fees for Personal Documents for UAE Legalization

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA or MOFAIC) requires that all foreign documents submitted for use in the UAE be authenticated by the local UAE embassy/consulate and then legalized by MOFA. Once your documents are in the UAE, MOFA charges a legalization fee that must be paid online before you can receive the final attestation.

✅ Step-by-Step Guide to Paying MOFA Fees

1.

Visit the MOFAIC Official Website

Go to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation portal:

2.

Create or Log into Your UAE Pass / MOFAIC Account

You will need a UAE Pass (for residents) or a guest account (for international users):

  • UAE residents: Use your UAE Pass (linked to Emirates ID).
  • International users: Register using email and passport details.

👉 You can also use the MOFAIC Smart App on iOS/Android to do this step.

3.

Navigate to “Document Attestation” Service

After login, select:

Services > Individual Services > Document Attestation

This service allows you to:

  • Submit a legalization request
  • Upload scanned copies of your documents
  • Pay the MOFA fee online

4.

Select Document Type and Purpose

Choose the following:

  • Category: Personal Documents
  • Type: Birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate, academic degree, etc.
  • Purpose: Residency, employment, marriage registration, visa application, etc.

Then upload a clear scan of the already embassy-legalized document (PDF or JPG).

5.

Enter Delivery Details

If you’re in the UAE:

  • You can select delivery to your address via Zajel or Emirates Post
  • Or opt for pickup at MOFA office

If you’re abroad:

  • Select “international submission”

6.

Pay the MOFA Fee

As of 2025, the MOFA legalization fee for personal documents is:

  • AED 150 per document (approx. $41 USD)

💳 Payment Methods Accepted:

  • Credit card (Visa / MasterCard)
  • UAE debit cards
  • Apple Pay (for app users)
  • UAE digital wallets (e.g., eDirham)

Upon payment, you’ll receive:

  • Payment confirmation
  • MOFA reference number
  • Receipt (PDF download)

8.

Receive the Final Attested Document

Once processed:

  • The MOFA attested document is returned by courier
  • MOFA stamp/sticker will be visible on the document

✅ Your document is now fully legalized for use in the UAE
