To make an appointment with the Mexican consulate and apply for dual citizenship, follow these steps:

All consular services—such as registering a birth abroad or submitting a naturalization request—require an appointment in advance. Mexico uses an official online system called MiConsulado to manage all appointments.

🔗 How to Make an Appointment:

1. Visit the MiConsulado portal: https://citas.sre.gob.mx
2. Create an account (if it’s your first time)
   • Provide your name, email, and phone number.
   • Confirm your identity with a verification code.
3. Select your nearest consulate location (e.g., Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, etc.)
4. Choose the service category:
   • “Registro Civil” if you’re applying for dual citizenship by descent (i.e., registering a foreign birth)
   • “Trámites de Nacionalidad” for naturalization requests
5. Pick an available date and time
6. Confirm your appointment and download your confirmation receipt

🌐 If You’re Claiming Citizenship by Parentage (Born Abroad to Mexican Parent):

You will register your foreign birth and be issued a Mexican birth certificate.

📄 Required Form:

There is no formal PDF application to download. The consulate provides the “Solicitud de Registro de Nacimiento” form during your appointment.

You will need to bring:

• Original apostilled birth certificate
• Parent’s Mexican birth certificate and valid ID
• Proof of address
• CURP (if already assigned)
• Two witnesses (some consulates may require this)

🧾 If You’re Applying for Naturalization in Mexico:

This applies to those who qualify through:

• 5 years of legal residence
• Marriage to a Mexican citizen
• Cultural contributions, etc.
